Since opening in the lower east side in February 2009, Scaramouche has produced a wide-array of projects that explore contemporary culture through site-specific installation, with particular emphasis on conceptual painting, photography, video and performance work. While dedicated to the promotion of artists living and working in the New York area, it is the gallery's continual mission to introduce artists from around the globe, often presenting them in their first solo exhibitions in the United States.
Scaramouche's projects have been featured in the New York Times, TimeOut New York, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, Flash Art International, and Artforum, among other publications. Recent collaborators include the New Museum, MoMA PS1, and Performa.
