Christine Sun Kim will collaborate with Lukas Geronimas to conduct a series of experiments which initiate a slippage of audio into visual. The artist, deaf since birth, will study her own internal vocalization as well as sounds produced by equipment such as microphones, transducers, delay pedals, etc. With attention to vibration and movement, Kim will translate this material, rendering the information visual.

For both artist and audience, communication must go beyond the vehicle of spoken language and capture pure sound, without the linguistic systems. As a result, Kim will explore modes of collaborative communication and the implicit improvisation that occurs in that moment an idea is conceived.

This is the inaugural performance of a 6-event series, organized and presented by Recess.
