Rainer Ganahl

Rainer Ganahl is a New York based artist working in many possible and impossible media. Many works deal with educational issues (learning of foreign languages since 1992, ongoing; reading seminar, since 1993 ongoing; seminar / lecture photographs, since 1995 ongoing), history (language of emigration series) and politics. He is also interested in dadaistic practices (dadalenin.com), bicycles (useabicycle.com) and little know aspects of Alfred Jarry (Iwannabealfredjarry.me).

A selection of recent one person shows include Alex Zachary 2010, New York; Elaine Levy, Brussels 2010; Galerie Nächst St. Stephan, Vienna, 2010, MAK Museum, Vienna 200/2010; Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm, 2008 Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Stuttgart 2008; The Wallach Art Gallery, Columbia University Museum, New York 2005 and the Museum of Modern Art Vienna, MUMOK, 2005. Recent Bienniale participations include: Moscow Biennale, 2011; Media City Seoul, 2010, Venice Biennale 2009 and 2007;  Shanghai Biennial 2008.

He participated in Performa 2009 with the theatrical production "dadalenin UBU LENIN" at Swiss Institute http://www.ganahl.info/ubulenin.html
