Nils Bech, Sergei Tcherepnin, and Bendik Giske
Oslo-based artist Nils Bech’s (b. Oslo, Norway, 1981) work illustrates the hybridization at play between art, music and dance today. Major exhibitions include the Venice Biennale (2011); the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), London (2011); Amsterdam Kunstverein (2011); Wiels Contemporary Art Center, Brussels (2011); the Frieze Foundation, London (2010); the New York Art Book Fair (2010); Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm (2010); and at Office for Contemporary Art (OCA), Oslo (2010). His debut album, Look Back, produced in collaboration with Bendik Giske, received outstanding reviews in his native Norway.
New York-based Sergei Tcherepnin’s (b. 1981, United States) practice balances between performance, composition, and installation to explore the materiality of sound and its physical and psychological effects on the listener. Major exhibitions include Abrons Art Center, New York (2011); Murray Guy, New York (2011); Audio Visual Arts, New York (2010); Merkin Concert Hall, New York (2008); and The Stone, New York (2008).
Bendik Giske (b. Oslo, Norway 1982) is a renowned Norwegian composer, jazz-saxophonist and producer. Giske has performed worldwide, including at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Opera House in Damascus, The Frieze Foundation, London (2010); The Great Escape in Brighton, the Ultima Festival for Contemporary Music, Oslo (2008); and the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), London.
